Pamela Anderson left Hollywood in 2020 to rediscover herself after years in the spotlight and has never looked back.

The former Playboy model spoke with Better Homes & Gardens as part of their September 2024 cover issue, detailing why she chose to return to her Canadian roots and what ultimately helped improve her mental health.

"I guess [it was] a homecoming, you could say, to really kind of look at my life and remember who I was — not what other people were telling me I was. And I didn’t want anything that had happened to me to define me. I wanted what I do to define me."

Anderson continued, unveiling that she was felt very lost, and was not in a positive headspace when she made the move.

"I was not in a good space when I moved back to Canada. I don't know what happened over the last few decades, but I feel now so far removed from the image of who I was. I felt very sad and lonely. I didn’t feel just misunderstood, I felt like I had really screwed up, that my whole life was a bundle of mistakes. I was hard on myself, and I thought I put my family through a lot and put my kids through so much."

The Baywatch star, who shares sons, Brandon, 28, and Dylan, 26, with her ex-husband Tommy Lee, per People, found herself once again through writing, baking, and other self-discovery tactics including gardening and renovating a property for her parents.

"It took me a couple years of transitioning and thinking. I was finally able to sit with myself."

The 57-year-old even applied the lessons she learned in her rose garden to Sonsie Skin products within the vegan skincare company she co-owns.

"I really wanted to start applying my life lessons and things that I’ve learned along the way — accepting where you are on your beauty journey — and I just felt like the rose garden, for me, was a very grounding message, because I kind of rediscovered myself in the rose garden."

Anderson concluded by assuring fans that this was her "time" and that they would see this restored belief reflected in her upcoming ventures.
