A refrigerator repairman stole $30,000 from a business owner in Florida . . . but he didn't take cash, he took TURTLES.

The thief is 47-year-old Jermaine Wofford. He'd been hired by a turtle breeder to repair a beverage cooler. He allegedly stole a few things on an initial visit, and then said he needed to return when he had a special part.

After his second visit, the breeder noticed that 18 turtles were missing, and they were worth $30,000. That's when they looked at the surveillance footage . . . saw Jermaine stealing the turtles . . . and called police.

The cops used the turtle breeder to lure the man back to the property, where they arrested him.

They were only able to recover five of the 18 missing turtles, and the breeder says he's still out $20,000. Jermaine's bond is set at $50,000.

(He'd need at least 30 turtles to cover that.) (???)
