Full disclosure: I'm deathly allergic to cats... so by default, not much of a cat person. However, I don't hate them, just can't be around them unless they are the rare hairless kind.
Having said that, did you see the recent study that found all cats are PSYCHOS? If they were humans and had the same personality traits, they'd be considered psychopaths. And here's some more anecdotal evidence of that . . .
A 52-year-old woman in Omaha, Nebraska had to call 911 on Monday after one of her cats ATTACKED her.
It wouldn't stop beating up on her other cat, so she tried to separate them . . . and said she threatened to give the cat a TIMEOUT. (???)
She told the cat she was going to, quote, "put it in its room," and that's when it flew off the handle and went after her.
She was eventually able to corral it into a bedroom and shut the door, but she didn't get out of it unscathed.
Paramedics took her to a hospital for multiple claw marks. All the wounds ended up being superficial though.
The Humane Society took the cat in. It's not clear if she wants it back or not.
