There’s a guy upstate that is willing to go to prison in the fight for his emotional support pig Ellie.
54-year-old Wyverne Flatt is facing jail time and $18k in fines after the village of Canajoharie passed a new law making it illegal for Flatt to keep a pig at his residence. Canajoharie is about a half-hour northwest-ish of Albany in Montgomery County.
Flatt registered Ellie as an emotional support animal with United Support Animals in 2018, but village officials say they’ve spoken with USA and say the organization agreed to “rescind her support” of Ellie staying with Flatt, who says the organization told him the opposite.
His trial begins on March 22nd.
