A man accused of scamming a woman out of more than $80K has missed his day in a Connecticut court. But there was a good reason (maybe).
The lawyer representing Johnny Masesa presented the judge with a death certificate he’d received in June. According to the document, his client died from “complications of malaria” while in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
But there’s a problem. Reports say that neither police nor the feds have been able to confirm that the death certificate is real.
Allegedly, Masesa, and others, bilked the woman out of her cash by posing as a representative of the Publisher’s Clearing House sweepstakes.
