Wanna Know How to Beat a Speeding Ticket in Belgium? Go Even Faster

Drivers in Belgium have found a loophole in traffic cameras on the E313 highway, and it’s a doozy.

A driver passed one of the cameras in October 2020 going 190 mph, but authorities have decided he won’t be prosecuted. Why? The radar unit in the cameras only has legal approval for estimating speeds of up to 186 mph, and if someone passes one of the cameras going faster than that it doesn’t even bother to take a picture of the vehicle.

The local media in Belgium are reporting that anyone can escape the cameras by driving over that speed.

The speed limit for that road is 75 mph. Image © 2021 Getty Images
