This sounds like something out of a "Forensic Files" episode.

A man in Italy who was missing for TWO DOZEN YEARS reappeared last week. His name is Ivo Rabanser . . . he's 42 . . . and he originally vanished in 1997. There aren't too many details on what happened then, or in the 24 years since.

So what did he do when he reappeared?

Ivo allegedly ATTACKED his brother Martin while he was sleeping. Ivo stabbed him several times in the chest . . . then stopped and walked into the kitchen. And that's where the police found him.

Apparently, Ivo had been thinking about it for a while, because he had staked out his brother's house . . . and was even sleeping in a tent in the woods nearby. Ivo reportedly said, "I felt a huge rage inside towards my brother, but I didn't want to kill him . . . I could've finished him."

Martin is in rough shape, but he survived. Martin's lawyer thinks Ivo was angry about the terms of their inheritance from their father, and he's been carrying a grudge ever since.
