An engaged couple is being called out for inviting guests to a gift-giving event … without the event.
A post on Reddit’s “Wedding Shaming” section shows a photo of an invitation that reads, “The family of the bride and groom would like to invite you to a Unique Card Bridal Shower.” And while it gives specific instructions about what they want for presents, there’s no info about a physical or virtual event to go with it (???).
The invitation uses a little poem to make the gift grab a little less cringy. “Mind you this might be out of whack, but they already have a shack!” “With all the gifts you could shower our bride, please keep it on a lighter side.” “A gift card to a place that does not expire is what the bride most desires!”
And it also asks for guests to share a recipe with the bride and they include a recipe card. There’s also an address where people can send those gift cards, but what it doesn’t include? Details like a time, date and location for an actual shower to go with this gift request!
Commenters on Reddit had a field day with this one, with one writing, “I didn’t realize they literally just want people to mail them money!” And another posts, “That’s tacky as h*ll.”
