A Connecticut woman is looking at up to 20 years in prison and a $15k fine after appearing in court Friday.
She supposedly stole around $600k from her husband over more than 20 years with forgery, false bank accounts, a forged power of attorney, and convincing him he had Alzheimer’s Disease. Marriage counseling probably not an option at this point.
As bad as that is, the worst part is that the state’s statute of limitations means police can only examine the man’s financials for the last five years. Police say they were able to confirm around $250k in theft from that time.
Donna Marino (thank goodness, no relation!) is charged with larceny in the first degree and forgery in the third degree, and as you might expect, her husband John is no longer with her and has moved to a new house.
