BEEKMAN – The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed it is investigating a violent incident that occurred at a residence on Walnut Drive in the Town of Beekman at about 11 p.m. on Wednesday.
There were several victims involved, but officials said the incident does not appear to be the result of a domestic dispute. The suspect is not at large and there is no danger to the community, police said.
As police were responding to 174 Walnut Drive, they were updated that a man, possibly under the influence of PCP, had stabbed his neighbor, according to police radio traffic. A second update indicated that there were multiple stabbing victims, including the alleged perpetrator.
Law enforcement secured the scene several ambulances to treat three patients with serious injuries. Ambulances from Beekman, Pawling, Dover, and Union Vale responded. At least one victim was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie.
Sources told Mid-Hudson News that responding officers were alerted that the perpetrator had recently been required to surrender his firearms to law enforcement.
