HYDE PARK – Saying Route 9G/Violet Avenue is the ninth most dangerous state highway corridor in Dutchess County, Hyde Park Town Supervisor Aileen Rohr is asking state officials to “implement solutions” to the hazards on the road.
The supervisor’s request comes following a fatal pedestrian-vehicle accident on September 16.
Pointing to dangers on Route 9G between Red Hook and Poughkeepsie, Rohr said, “We have an obligation to address it, however, as a state road the town’s options for unilateral action are limited.”
As a result, Rohr has asked state transportation department officials as well as area state lawmakers to “review crash data” to address the situation.
