Guy Made $300K By Submitting False Claims That Airlines “Lost His Bags”

Over a five-year period, Pernell Jones, Jr. earned a nice living at the expense of the airline industry.

Somehow, he was able to convince American Airlines, United, Southwest, Jet Blue, and Alaska Airlines they lost his luggage “more than 180 times.” Over time, that ended up seeing over $300K paid Jones’ way.

Reportedly, Pernell would buy tickets using “pre-loaded gift cards” to avoid leaving a trace of his real identity. Then, he’d fly in and out of New Orleans using forged identification and make his lost bag claim. On that claim form, he’d list enough valuables to routinely hit the $3,500 liability limit.

Reportedly, he’d make over half-a-million in claims, but only managed to score just over 60% of that before finally getting busted.
