When it comes to their performance at the Tokyo Olympics, the Russians are crying “foul.”
As in, after landing the third most medals, at 71 …20 of which were gold …the “Russian Olympic Committee” agree they under-performed in Tokyo, but say it wasn’t their fault.
They’re claiming the fix was in and outcomes were “planned in advance.”
This, according to a statement from Irina Viner-Usmanova, president of the Russia Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation. Piling on, lawmaker Aleksei Zhuravlyov claimed “other countries were a pack of Russophobic beasts, headed by the United States.” Then, there’s Duma Pyotr Tolstoy, deputy speaker of the Russian State, who called Americans “moral freaks” and didn’t even understand wanting to “discuss this parade of freaks and perverts.”
To be fair, that last part might have a little truth to it.
