TOWN OF FISHKILL – Fishkill Town Board Member Ori Brachfeld has resigned from the town board. His resignation letter was submitted to the town clerk on the afternoon of Friday, July 30. Brachfeld, a member of the board since 2014 specified that his resignation was effective immediately.
Brachfeld was originally appointed to the town board to fill a vacancy created when Tony Curry resigned from the position. The Hudson Valley native followed that term by winning two subsequent re-election campaigns. “It has been my pleasure to represent the town since 2014 and I am humbled by the fact that the town elected me twice,” he told Mid Hudson News on Monday.
An independent businessman, Brachfeld said that he took office at a time that the town was in “severe fiscal stress” and worked with his elected colleagues to regain the fiscal stability currently enjoyed by the town. “I am sure the town will continue to flourish due to the commitment of the town board and its deep concern for its residents.
Born and raised in Newburgh, the successful owner of businesses including Dash Lock & Key also served as the Chairman of the Board of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce in 2014. He has resided in Fishkill since 2001. He and his wife Gena are the parents of their daughter Eddye. Brachfeld cited the need to respond to positive personal opportunities for him and his family as the reason for his resignation.
Town Supervisor Ozzy Albra was asked if he planned to appoint someone to fill the vacancy soon or wait until an election and indicated that no decision had been made. “Reach out to me Thursday,” he told Mid Hudson News, adding that “I will have a better feel then.”
