Road Rage May Actually Be Genetic and There's a Term for It: Accelerousal

These researchers could have just stuck with the term "road rage" . . . because this new term seems needlessly naughty: According to psychologists at the University of Houston, if you get angry behind the wheel a lot, you may be experiencing "accelerousal."

In psychology, "arousal" is anything that causes stress, so it's not necessarily what we normally think it means. And they think "accelerousal" might be genetic. So your parents might be the reason you're "acceleroused."

People who experience it deal with about 50% more stress than drivers who don't. And even small things can trigger accelerousal . . . like having to hit the brakes for a red light.

Tell you what. I’m sticking with “road rage”, thanks.
