A Virtual Visit with Lemon Andersen at the Poughkeepsie Public Library

Catch LEMON ANDERSON on Thursday, April 22, at 7 pm!

The Poughkeepsie Public Library District is thrilled to showcase Lemon Anderson, actor, playwright, spoken word artist, and youth empowerment activist, in a free, virtual event. Registration is required: bit.ly/PPLD_Andersen

Andersen spent his teen-age years in and out of jail, where he started reading aloud to his fellow inmates. Both his parents were addicts who died of AIDS within a year of each other when Lemon was a teenager. He grew up, and still lives, in Brooklyn, NY.

The Library District was intrigued by his very personal library story in the Daily News: "The library saved my life: Now as ever, New York City must support the free public spaces where people can go to learn and explore."
