Cuomo avoids media again with PR stop in Orange County

WALDEN – For the better part of the past year, Governor Andrew Cuomo held daily COVID-19 briefings, either in Albany or New York City, with reporters present to ask questions.
During the last few months, most of their briefings, which included media questioning, took place by conference call.
Then came the allegations of sexual misconduct against the governor.
Cuomo has since held pandemic updates in various New York City locations, without the media to ask questions, claiming there was no room.
On Tuesday, he came to Angry Orchard in Walden, to talk about the state’s agricultural and cidery industry, related tourism, and the latest COVID-19 and vaccination updates.
The event was held outside with bushels of apples as props and the governor saying one of his daughters came with him because she wanted to buy some apple cider.
Once again, despite the event being held outdoors, the media was shut out. A state-funded TV crew webcast the public relations event with one pool photographer present to take photos that were shared with all media afterward.
An email to the governor’s press office, asking why the media was not allowed, went unanswered as has been the case with dozens of other emails and phone calls from Mid-Hudson News to the office that have not been answered.
