MID-HUDSON – Dry conditions coupled with winds, resulted in a number of brush fires on Monday.
Firefighters from several departments in Orange, Sullivan and Pike counties battled a brush fire off Pine Kill Road in Westbrookville.
Tanker trucks transported water to the scene to help the large fire from spreading any further.
Meanwhile, in the New Hackensack fire district, a three-alarm brush fire at 14 East Salem Road was fed by strong winds with additional tanker trucks brought in to boost the water supply.
In Millbrook, a brush fire at 27 Shale Road was also calling in additional tanker trucks.
In Chester, a brush fire on Black Rock Road kept firefighters busy. One firefighter was reported injured with difficulty breathy.
