SPRING VALLEY – An overnight fire at the Evergreen Home for Adults in Lafayette Street in Spring Valley turned the facility in a raging inferno of bright red flames.
It was not immediately known if anyone was injured or killed in the three-alarm blaze, but a mass casualty event has been declared for several civilians and firefighters.
Firefighters and EMS personnel from across Rockland County were on the scene as flames consumed the structure. At one point, a portion of the building collapsed as firefighters ran for cover to avoid being struck by the debris.
