Car crash claims one life in local Hudson Valley town

A Sunday afternoon car accident on Beekman Road near Phillips Road and the Taconic State Parkway has claimed the life of one of the vehicle’s occupants.
The accident occurred around 3:45 p.m. A vehicle left the roadway of Beekman Road, struck a parked vehicle, and came to a rest in between trees on a homeowner’s property.
Firefighters from the Beekman and East Fishkill fire departments responded to the call in the East Fishkill Fire District along with State Police and East Fishkill Police. First responders encountered the vehicle with two trapped people who had sustained serious injuries during the wreck.
Beekman Road was closed to traffic in the area as emergency personnel worked to free the trapped occupants.
Representatives from the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office arrived at the scene at 6:57 p.m. to remove the second occupant from the vehicle.
A medivac helicopter was requested to land at the Beekman Country Club to transport the second victim, but the helicopter was grounded due to high winds. The patient was transported by East Fishkill Advanced Life Support medics to a Poughkeepsie hospital.
