EAST FISHKILL – A second Amazon distribution center will be under construction shortly at the old IBM East Fishkill site.
The 631,000-square-foot facility will replace an existing IBM building with demolition to begin within days, said Town Supervisor Nicholas D’Alessandro.
The project will bring with it a number of benefits, he said.
“It means jobs, it means tax revenue, it means more people spending money in our local businesses, it means people buying homes here,” he said. “It’s a wonderful thing for Southern Dutchess and really the whole region.”
The Bluewater Property Group, which will construct the building and lease it to Amazon, is also developing the one-million-square-foot distribution center for the online retailer in Montgomery.
