FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

HONORABLE JUDGE TIMOTHY G. PAGONES ANNOUNCES BID FOR

RE-ELECTION AS BEACON CITY COURT JUDGE

City Court Judge Incumbent to Run in 2021 Election

BEACON, NY (March 4, 2021) – Current Beacon City Court Judge, Honorable Timothy G. Pagones, today announced his bid for re-election to run as a candidate in the 2021 election.

“I’m honored to have worked alongside residents and families who share in my passion for this incredible community that I’ve had the pleasure of raising my own family in,” said Pagones. “During my time on the bench, I’ve done so with the highest level of ethical standards and I’m confident in my ability to continue supporting and protecting the rights of those who appear before me. I am excited to run for re-election and if given the opportunity, I look forward to fulfilling the role of Beacon’s city court judge with compassion, fairness, integrity and accountability.”

Prior to serving as city court judge full-time, Pagones worked as a senior assistant district attorney for the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office and then for 13 years with the law firm, Pagones & Cross P.C., specializing in criminal defense. Pagones also handled banking and real estate matters and was the deputy town attorney for the Town of Philipstown, representing the zoning and planning boards.

During his tenure as city court judge, Pagones started Beacon’s Drug Treatment Court, which handles county-wide cases, and the Misdemeanor Domestic Violence Court. Pagones is also creating the first Opioid/Recovery Court in Dutchess County. He is responsible for starting the Mental Health Court Connections Program. This program, along with the problem-solving courts, works to resolve some of the underlying causes of crime, such as drug addiction and mental illness, to decrease the recidivism rate and potentially avoid a criminal conviction.

Pagones earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Ithaca College and received a juris doctor from Touro College’s Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. He is a member of the Dutchess County Bar Association, the New York State City Court Judge Association and the New York State Bar Association. An active member of his community, Pagones has volunteered with several local organizations including the Rotary Club of Beacon, the City of Beacon Fire Department and the Martin Luther King Cultural Center.
