Signs point to strong start in Ulster County home sales in 2021

KINGSTON – If January is an indication of what is to come the rest of the year in Ulster County home sales, it could be a banner year.
The Ulster County Board of Realtors reports that home sales rose by 66 percent in January compared to January 2020. A total of 186 homes were purchased in the first month of the new year compared with 112 the year before.
The number of available listings and days on the market are two other signs of a hot real estate market.
Homes sold 42 percent faster in January 2021 than they did in 2020; 52 days on the market in January 2021 compared with 90 one year earlier.
There were also 44 percent fewer available listings (249 v. 444), and that could account for the 44 percent increase in the average selling price. The average price in January 2020 was $270,842 while it rose to $390,581 this January.
