In India, Rajiv Kumar complained that his email account had been compromised on January 1st and that he had been receiving threats and financial demands from a group of hackers ever since.
The alleged criminals were demanding one million rupees or they were going to release sensitive photos of Kumar to the public, and then kill him and his family.
Kumar eventually realized that the sophisticated criminals were in fact following his family's every move. Panicked, he finally called the police.
The police traced the IP address from which the initial extortion emails were sent by Kumar's own 11-year-old son who broke down and confessed.
The 5th grader said that he learned about cybercrime by watching YouTube videos and tutorials and thought that he was smart enough to cover his tracks.
