POUGHKEEPSIE – City Hall in Poughkeepsie will be closed to the public effective Tuesday, November 17. Two employees in the building have tested positive for COVID-19.
Recently the city had to close the transfer station when at least seven of the city’s DPW workers tested positive for the virus. Another DPW employee has since tested positive and one of Poughkeepsie’s firefighters has also tested positive for COVID-19.
“It’s imperative we do what we can to protect the health of our employees and the public,” said Mayor Rolison.“We are going to close city hall as we continue to contact trace and see exactly if there are other individuals who may be affected and we are sending employees for testing,” he said.
Essential workers, including public safety and the sanitation department, will be continuing their shifts. Individuals are encouraged to call 911 in the event of an emergency. The Police Department’s non-emergency number is 845-451-4000.
