Middletown man issued 45 tickets following car chase and crash

TOWN OF WALLKILL – A 21-year-old Middletown man was issued 45 tickets after he led State Police on a high-speed chase from I-84 to Route 17 in the Town of Wallkill Sunday afternoon.
Troopers tried to pull over a 2015 Mazda CX-5 with a Georgia license plate that was speeding on I-84 in the Town of Montgomery. The driver, Chandler Riggins of Middletown, entered Route 17 near exit 119 and sideswiped a 2002 Toyota Camry causing the Mazda to overturn.
Riggin and his passenger, Brittany Tobin, 22, of Greenville, were removed without injury.
Riggin was charged with 45 vehicle and traffic law tickets including speeding, driving on the shoulder, failure to comply and other violations.
He was also charged with misdemeanor drug possession, obstructing governmental administration, fleeing a police officer, resisting arrest, reckless driving, criminal contempt and aggravated unlicensed operation.
Tobin was charged with misdemeanor drug possession, obstructing governmental administration, and resisting arrest.
Both were arraigned in Montgomery Town Court and released on appearance tickets.
