POUGHKEEPSIE – City of Poughkeepsie Police are investigating a shooting that sent one man to the hospital Monday night.
Police responded to the intersection of Hooker Avenue and Montgomery Street around 10 p.m. for reports of a man shot.
Responding officers found a man with a gunshot wounds to the chest. He was treated by Poughkeepsie firefighters and Mobile Life medics before being transported to a local hospital.
Officers recovered shell casings on the pavement and located a handgun under a vehicle parked on the street.
The parked vehicle was also struck by bullets.
Poughkeepsie Town Police assisted at the scene and provided back-up while city police worked the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking for anyone with information about the shooting to call 845-451-7577.
