Team of Firefighters Leave Note For Owner After Saving Cabin From Wildfire

With a wildfire burning near his cabin in Colorado, Dan Stones wasn’t sure it would still be standing when he went to check on it.

The East Troublesome Fire raged about 30-miles away, but it ultimately got extremely close - five or six feet, according to firefighters - to the cabin. And when Stones returned a few days later, he found the cabin still standing and a note with this message:

"If this note finds you we must have done something right. Sorry for the loss of your shed and we had to cut the wood fence to save the house. Things got really hot we stayed as long as possible."

And it was signed, "Best wishes Engine 1446."

Stones was really touched by the message. “It absolutely blew me away,” the grateful cabin owner says. “And I’m a grown man, and I can admit I wept.”

He adds that the act of kindness was too powerful and too good not to share with the world.
