Poughkeepsie PBA Donates to Miles of Hope

Press Release:

The City of Poughkeepsie Police Benevolent Association presented Miles of Hope Executive Director, Pari Forood, with a check for $1,000 to help people affected by breast cancer in the Hudson Valley.

"I am so honored to receive this donation on behalf of all the people who will be helped by it.

I want to thank Sergeant Joe Ciardi and our Miles of Hope Board Member, Brian Powers, for making this happen. We are honored to be recognized by the Poughkeepsie PBA during October, Breast Cancer Awareness month," Ms. Forood said.

Miles of Hope is a 501-c-3, public charity with a mission to fund support services, education and outreach for people affected by breast cancer within the 9 counties of the Hudson Valley.

"Right now, with everything going virtual and charities struggling to raise much needed funds, this donation is especially appreciated. During the pandemic, people are reluctant to get preventive services like mammograms. The consequence will most likely be a higher incidence of later stage cancer in the coming months and years. Miles of Hope, which helps people with their bills and finances while in treatment for breast cancer, will be needed more than ever before," Ms. Forood said.
