Information Update For October 7, 2020 for Dutchess County

·Governor Cuomo has released a new Executive Order that outlines how the state will handle hot-spot areas where there are a large number of new COVID-19 cases. The order can be found HERE.

·Additionally, under the new order any individual who encourages, promotes or organizes a non-essential gathering as set forth in Department of Health regulation, shall be liable for a civil penalty not to exceed $15,000 per day. A non-essential gathering is defined as a gathering of more than 50 people. 

·Local governments are authorized to assess and retain a civil penalty for violations of Executive Orders issued pursuant to Section 29-A of the Executive Law, or any regulations of the Department of Health, that impose requirements pertaining to maintaining social distance and wearing of face coverings, for the duration of this disaster emergency, and to conduct any hearing related to such penalties. Such penalties, if assessed on an individual basis, shall not exceed $1,000 per violation, except as otherwise provided herein.

·The Dutchess County Workforce Investment Board (DCWIB) has announced the availability of Coursera for Workforce Recovery Program has been extended. Residents and businesses throughout Dutchess County may continue signing up for free online classes. Currently, more than 4,000 classes, ranging from workplace skill-builders to personal enrichment, are being offered by universities and companies from around the world.
