Poughkeepsie Public Library: Close the Book on Hunger-Great Give-Back

Press Release

Close the Book on Hunger – Great Give-Back

Every October, libraries across New York State celebrate our local communities through the Great Give-Back, with activities that honor and enrich the community. The Poughkeepsie Public Library District is joining the effort by hosting a Food Drive at the libraries from October 1 through October 17 to benefit Dutchess Outreach. In addition, a special morning collection will happen from 9 am to noon on Saturday, October 17, at the Poughkeepsie Adams Fairacre Farm Store.

You can help close the book on hunger. Non-perishable food items will be collected at both Adriance Memorial Library and Boardman Road Branch Library during regular business hours. The list of items most needed at the Dutchess Outreach Food Pantry includes pasta and sauce, cereal, large cans of meat ravioli or hearty soup, beef stew, canned chili with meat, canned tuna, instant macaroni and cheese, canned potatoes/yams, peanut butter and jelly, canned fruits and vegetables.

Adriance Memorial Library is at 93 Market Street in Poughkeepsie (GPS locator: 22 Noxon Street) and the Boardman Road Branch Library is at 141 Boardman Road in Poughkeepsie. For further library information see www.poklib.org or call 845-485-3445 x 3702.
