POUGHKEEPSIE – The City of Poughkeepsie, through a grant from Dutchess County, is undertaking a sanitation system study to better gauge how residents are disposing of their household waste, recyclables, and yard materials.
With money from a Dutchess County Government Efficiency Grant, Poughkeepsie has engaged MSW Consultants, a provider of sanitation and recycling operational analysis services for governments to conduct the survey and overall analysis of the city’s sanitation services. MSW Consulting will look at aspects including infrastructure and equipment, pricing and fiscal modeling, operational efficiencies, and capital needs.
The public survey, which is being sent to 2,000 randomly selected customers, will better inform city officials about customer satisfaction and other issues as the city evaluates the current system and considers changes. City officials are urging those who receive the form to fill it out and return it in two weeks. They also will be provided code and link to complete the form online. A public meeting will be held set on the matter at a later date.
“We are very proud of our Sanitation team and the service they provide,” City Administrator Marc Nelson said. “As essential workers throughout the current health crisis, they are doing a wonderful job throughout our community. We would greatly appreciate the public’s time in completing the survey if you were selected to receive one. It can be done online and is completely anonymous. The responses gathered, together with public comment made at the upcoming public meeting, will help inform our current budget process, as well as our longer-term strategic plan.”
