A Teen Raises Money For Kids & Homeless Vets By Carving U.S. Flags

For the last eight months or so, Lorenzo Liberti has been hard at work in his garage hand-carving U.S. flags. The 15-year-old central Florida boy uses pinewood and his talent to create his Heroic Flags then uses the money for good causes.

Lorenzo has made around 50 of the wooden flags so far and he sells them and donates the money to groups that support children with special needs, homeless veterans and his newest mission, honoring medical workers. His goal is to raise enough funds to get one of his flags in a hospital in every state. He’s already got a seven-footer in Sarasota Memorial, where his mom works.

“This is what gets me up in the morning,” the teen says, “and helps me sleep late at night.”
