National Lineworker Appreciation Day Recognized by Central Hudson

Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. joins the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), the Edison Electric Institute and utilities across North America in recognizing National Lineworker Appreciation Day.

“A safe and reliable electric system depends upon the important work performed by our lineworkers,” said Charles A. Freni, President and C.E.O. of Central Hudson. “We’re proud to recognize their critical contributions both during storm emergencies and every day to maintain vital electric service for our customers, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are equally proud of their personal dedication and professionalism and thank all line workers for their exemplary service, often working under hazardous conditions.”

Lineworkers undergo lengthy training to master a wide variety of skills necessary to safely perform their jobs. Today, newer technologies are being deployed by lineworkers to modernize the electric grid and enhance service to customers.

Freni explained that Central Hudson actively supports the Troops to Energy initiative to help veterans transition to meaningful careers in the energy industry, including positions as lineworkers. Central Hudson also honors its natural gas workers, and recognizes their contributions during the National Gas Utility Workers day each year in March.

“Together, our utility workers are on the front lines, maintaining vital energy services under all conditions,” said Freni. “Even as we confront the COVID-19 pandemic, these professionals continue to work tirelessly for our customers and communities. We owe them a debt of thanks and appreciation for all they do.”
