CHATHAM – The Board of Directors of the Columbia County Agricultural Society has decided to cancel this year’s Columbia County Fair because of the continued threat of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Board President Nelson Alford, Jr. said this would have marked the 180thconsecutive county fair. “It has prevailed through the Civil War, the Spanish Flu, and two World Wars, but the health and safety of our patrons, our employees, our exhibitors and our vendors require that the 180thannual Columbia County Fair must be postponed until September 2021,” he said.
The Ulster and Dutchess County fairs have been cancelled for this summer. There has been no decision on whether the Orange County Fair will be held in July.
