Dutchess County Business Updates For June 30, 2020

·The Department of Labor has released an online tool to help individuals determine if they qualify for paid sick leave due to COVID-19. It can be found HERE. A tool for employers is currently being developed.

·Governor Andrew Cuomo signed an Executive Order mandating a 14 quarantine and eliminating emergency paid sick leave benefits for individuals that voluntarily travel to states on New York's Travel Advisory list. The Executive Order can be found HERE. The Travel Advisory list can be found HERE.

·Governor Cuomo also approved an additional 30 day extension of his Executive Order that allows restaurants and bars to serve cocktails and wine to go.

· Beginning July 6, outdoor, low-risk sports and recreational activities can resume. The full list can be found HERE.

·OSHA is reminding employers of their duty to protect employees from the risks and dangers of heat exposure. Guidance on how to ensure your employees are safe can be found HERE.

·Our region is targeted to enter Phase 4 on July 7, but businesses and organizations can begin preparing now to reopen.

·Regions in Phase 4 are also permitted to hold social gatherings of up to 50 people; and indoor religious gatherings will be allowed at up to 33% of the indoor site's capacity.

You must follow these steps to be prepared to reopen:

1.Go to the NY Forward website HERE

2.Click on “Phase Four Guidance.”

3.Select your industry by scrolling down on the left side navigation bar.

4.Click on and read “View Summary Guidelines” for your industry.

5.Click on and read “Read and Affirm the Detailed Guidelines” for your industry, and then click the link at the bottom of the page orHEREto complete the form and hit submit.

6.Click on “Print Business Safety Plan Template” for your industry, and then print and fill out the template, and keep on file at your place of business.

7.Implement the Safety Plan.
