KINGSTON – Playgrounds in the City of Kingston are reopening today with COVID-19 health and safety guidelines in place.
Families and children may begin to use city playgrounds, which will be open and use-at-your-own-risk.
State Department of Health strongly suggests using hand sanitizer before and after using playground equipment and frequently throughout play. Family groups should maintain a distance of six feet when not using the playgrounds.
“We know families have been anxiously awaiting the re-opening of our wonderful playground facilities. We are happy to now be able to provide these spaces for children, but we urge everyone to use caution, and to bring your own hand sanitizer and face coverings,” said Mayor Steven Noble.
“Recreation and leisure are significant factors for overall quality of life in every community. It has been challenging to have our playgrounds and facilities closed for the last several weeks, so we’re looking forward to being able to re-open our playgrounds and are counting on everyone follow all guidelines to keep themselves and others safe at all times,” said Lynsey Timbrouck, recreation director.
Tennis courts in City of Kingston parks are open, and the Kingston Point Beach will open on Saturday, June 20. Bathrooms in the parks and at Dietz Stadium will open on June 29, 2020 and will cleaned and sanitized often.
