How Long Would You Torture Yourself Before You Turn on the AC?

Around this time every year, all of us come face-to-face with one of our biggest tests: How many hot days can we take before we finally crank on the air conditioner and just let it blast for the rest of the summer?

According to a OnePoll study on behalf of Trane Residential, the average amount of hot days we can take before we turn on the AC is . . . five.

And 55% of people say they feel, quote, "defeated" when they finally turn it on.

The average American says the ideal temperature for the house is 69 degrees.

The survey also found we check the weather an average of four times a day and have three conversations about the weather every day, too.
