POUGHKEEPSIE – The Mid-Hudson Valley is in phase one of its COVID-19 reopening and it is expected to transition to phase two on June 9.
Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro said Wednesday that as far as he is concerned, the region can move forward ahead of schedule.
“We have been making the case that we can begin phase two now. The county executives in the Mid-Hudson region – I don’t want to speak for everyone, but a majority of us have argued these last several days that based on the data and based on our public health departments’ reviews of where we are and the projection moving forward, we should be in a process of beginning phase two today,” he said.
Molinaro said he does not understand the logic why in the same phase, it is okay to go swimming at the beach and play tennis, but not okay to practice youth soccer.
