NEW YORK – Metro-North Railroad, which scaled back to one trip per hour on each of its east of Hudson lines during New York Pause caused by COVID-19, is starting to add back trips.
Phase one of economic reopening began Tuesday in the Hudson Valley and that is anticipated to put people back to work and require additional rail service, said Metro-North President Cathy Rinaldi.
“We are anticipating now that more is reopening in the Mid-Hudson region and potentially in the city in a couple of weeks, that there are going to be more employees that are going to need to travel to their work so we are anticipating that by enhancing our peak hour service,” she said.
During the complete economic shutdown, the Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven rail lines were operating just hourly trips to transport essential workers to and from their jobs.
Now, the Hudson Line is adding two morning and two afternoon trips. The Harlem Line will add three trips in the morning and afternoon and the New Haven Line will also add three additional trips in each day part.
The Harlem line will also add one reverse peak trip.
