Delgado confident Direct Support for Communities Act will win approval

U.S. Capitol In Washington
WASHINGTON – Congressman Antonio Delgado (D, NY-19) has won the support of the Democrat-controlled House, but he needs the support of the Republican Senate with his Direct Support for communities Act?
The first-term lawmaker is confident there is room for bipartisan support for his measure.

“On this particular issue, state and local government funding, I think there can be some room for common ground because all localities irrespective of party affiliation, whether you are a blue state or a red state, or blue town or red town, the budgets are hemorrhaging as a result of the loss of tax revenue,” he said. “Given that this is pain that is being felt across the board, irrespective of party affiliation, there is room and I think if we say focused on this particular issue, we can build off of it.”
The measure includes $500 billion for states and $375 billion for localities regardless of their populations.
