Poughkeepsie waterfront market to open today

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Poughkeepsie Waterfront Market will open the 2020 season one month early on Monday, May 4, in order to increase access for city residents to fresh, healthy food during the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Market will run weekly from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday afternoons in the Pavilion at the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, 75 North Water Street in Poughkeepsie.
Though the main museum is closed to visitors at this time as part of “New York on Pause,” the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum is unique among museums nationwide in that part of its core program – its public farmers market – has been deemed an essential business.
The Pre-Season Market will feature 17 vendors who will offer an exceptional array of produce, herbs, meats, spices, apples, cider, cheeses, baked goods, honey, vegetable plant starts, and prepared foods.
The Market accepts SNAP and WIC’s Farmers Market Nutrition Program checks (starting June 1).
Support for the early season opening comes from the City of Poughkeepsie, the Dutchess Responds Fund, the Dyson Foundation, and private donations.Click herefor more information or a vendor application.
