Orange Regional Medical Center Celebrates National Nurses Week

Starting May 6

Middletown, NY – Nurses make a life-saving difference, and Orange Medical Center is proud to celebrate the contributions of its outstanding nursing team during National Nurses Week, May 6-12, 2020.

“Nurses provide specialized, state-of-the-art care that advances our region’s quality of life,” said Lisa Oldham, Chief Nursing Officer & VP Patient Care Services, Orange Regional Medical Center. “Our nurses put patients first in every aspect. Whether nurses are using their knowledge to help an appreciative patient recuperate or providing comfort and support during a time of stress or performing life-saving measures, they make an unforgettable difference.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has spotlighted the extraordinary importance of nurses’ expertise, service and compassion. Nurses at Orange Regional Medical Center have responded to this unprecedented challenge by being even more devoted to their core mission: providing our patients the exceptional care they expect and trust when they need it most. They do so because nursing is more than a job – it’s a calling. Their reward is patients’ health, comfort and well-being.

National Nurses Week, an annual observance, highlights the importance of nursing and is an opportunity to express appreciation for nurses’ exceptional care. The birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, is May 12, 1820. Nurses Week always ends on May 12, and this year will mark her 200th birthday.

Orange Regional Medical Center is a Magnet Recognized hospital, the highest and most prestigious distinction a hospital can earn for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care.
