The Arc Mid-Hudson Shows Their Appreciation to Their Direct Support Staff and Supports Local Restaurants

Kingston, NY. The Arc Mid-Hudson (formerly known as The Arc of Ulster-Greene and The Arc Putnam) shows their appreciation to their 1,200 Direct Support Professionals (DSP) who are working as essential employees and also shows their support to local restaurants who are trying to stay afloat during this COVID-19 crisis.

“The Arc Mid-Hudson leadership team wanted to find a way to show our appreciation and gratitude towards our Direct Support Professionals who have been on the front lines, risking their lives in order to support our most vulnerable citizens in the community during this time of quarantine. We have been fortunate to be deemed as an “essential business” and have been able to continue our operations during this pandemic outbreak. But we recognize that many businesses either had to close their doors completely or downsize their operations, such as our local restaurants. We wanted to acknowledge the heroic work that our Direct Support Professionals continue to do, day-in and day-out, and also have this opportunity to support local restaurants by purchasing breakfast and dinner to all of our Direct Support Professional Staff and individuals supported.

I want to give a heartfelt thank you to our staff and to our community partners, who continue to support The Arc Mid-Hudson and help us fulfill our mission, which is “To empower people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities to achieve and experience the highest quality of life”. Our staff have given us so much and our community partners have supported us for many years, now it’s our turn to give a nod of thanks and some support to them this time around.” Stated John McHugh, Executive Director of The Arc Mid-Hudson

The Arc Mid-Hudson purchased over 835 family style breakfast and dinners for their Direct Support Professionals to share with the individuals living in its homes. They utilized their transportation staff to pick up the food from the restaurants and deliver each meal to the homes. Restaurants in Greene, Columbia, Putnam and Ulster Counties provided delicious meals and were accommodating to our needs. The restaurants included: Frank Guido’s Little Italy, Ole Savannah Southern Table and Bar, Tony and Nick’s Italian Kitchen, Mirabella’s, Pasquale Pizza & Restaurant, Pomodoro’s, Four Brothers Pizza Restaurant, Mahopac, Aversano’s Restaurant, Four Brothers Pizza Inn, Valatie, Sal’s Pizza, Deising’s Bakery, Putnam Diner, Carmel Diner, Ambrosia Diner, Barclay Heights Diner, Wilson’s Market, Main Street Diner.

“We very happy and honored to partner with The Arc Mid-Hudson by providing comfort food at a time of uncertainty to their essential staff that who are working in the frontline to keep people they support healthy and safe. It makes me proud to see our community and businesses pulling together and supporting each other during this time.” Frank Guido, Owner of Frank Guido’s Little Italy

The Arc Mid-Hudson is a private not-for-profit agency founded by families in Ulster, Greene and Putnam Counties who believed that their children with disabilities should have the same opportunities as their peers.
