Putnam County man arrested in Town of Newburgh stabbing

NEWBURGH – A 26-year-old Garrison man is in the Orange County Jail on assault charges in connection with the stabbing of a man last Thursday in the Meadow Hill area of the Town of Newburgh.
Town Police charged Gary Patterson with assault in the first and second degrees and a misdemeanor of criminal possession of a weapon.
It is alleged that Patterson stabbed another man in the abdomen at 21 Stirrup drive shortly after midnight on Thursday, April 23.
Police investigated and found a man, later identified as Patterson, walking in the area. He was later charged and committed to jail in lieu of $35,000 cash bail.
Police said the suspect and victim were acquainted with each other and that this was not a random attack.
