Attorney general creates nursing home abuse hotline

ALBANY – State Attorney General Letitia James has created a hotline where nursing home residents, families, or members of the public can share complaints about nursing homes that have not provided required communications with families about COVID-19 diagnoses or fatalities.
The hotline will also accept complaints about nursing home abuse and neglect, including failure to follow rules to keep residents safe.
“Every nursing home should be provided with adequate PPE and testing, and enhanced infection control protocols must be implemented to protect residents,” she said.
Complaints may be filed online:file confidential complaints about nursing homes to the OAG online or by calling 833-249-8499.
The following is a list of nursing homes in the Hudson Valley and the number of deaths reported in each by the State Health Department as of Saturday, April 25.

Dutchess County:

Ferncliff Nursing home – 6

Orange County:

Montgomery Nursing Home – 10

Schervier Pavilion, Warwick – 6

Valley View, Goshen (Orange County-owned) – 25

Putnam County:

Putnam Nursing Home and Rehabilitation – 7

Rockland County:

Tolstoy Foundation & Nursing Home – 8

Westchester County:

Westchester Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Home – 6

Northern Westchester Restorative Center and Nursing Home – 8

Martine Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Home – 11

St. Cabrini Nursing Home –16

The New Jewish Home, Sarah Neuman – 16

The Wartburg Home – 26

Regency Extended Care Center – 30

Last week the governor required nursing homes to accept new patients whether they were COVID positive or not. That was later revoked.
