Annie & Ryan had Jenna Adameck from Poughkeepsie on with them to help spread the work for #MarksNow!
#MasksNow is a national grassroots coalition responding to the urgent national shortage of masks brought on by the Covid-19 outbreak.
Over 4,000 volunteers and leaders are working to sew cloth masks and donate them to patients, healthcare workers, at-risk community members, and essential workers, including postal workers, grocery store workers, manufacturing personnel, and more. We’ve got volunteers in every state, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico ready to answer the call from over 600 hospitals and organizations who have made direct requests for home-sewn masks.
I got involved in this because my mom works in health care here in the Hudson Valley, and I wanted to make cloth masks for her and her coworkers in case they needed them. From there I found the #MasksNow group on facebook for the whole state of New York and was inspired by the many people churning out masks and getting them to the people who needed them most. It just so happened that a week or so after I joined, they emailed all of the NY members looking for people to help divide up the state and become regional leads. Looking to help in any way I can, I volunteered myself to lead the Hudson Valley and Westchester area.
I'm looking for folks to join me who not only can sew masks, but also people to donate materials, call local organizations and inquire about their needs, and help distribute masks. It's a great safe way to get involved and help out community!
