DNA Test Leads Sisters To Meet Each Other After 75 Years

A pair of sisters who spent a lifetime not knowing each other existed have been reunited thanks to a DNA test. Jackie Murphy, 80, just learned she has a sister, Suzan Baekkelund, 76, after relatives of each of theirs did DNA testing. Now the women have been reunited after 75 years apart.

Suzan had been given up for adoption by their mother, who raised Jackie. But Suzan was never told she was adopted, so she never searched for her birth family. Once they put the pieces of their story together, the sisters have been getting to know each other and just met face-to-face for the first time in 75 years.

“I love her and I don’t even know her,” Jackie says of her newly discovered sibling.
