A "joke" Facebook event created last week has quickly picked up steam, with 1.4 million people now RSVP'd to storm the Area 51 facility in New Mexico on September 20th of this year. As the event itself says "We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry. If we naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Lets see them aliens."
The military is understandably not thrilled. From USA Today:
Air Force spokeswoman Laura McAndrews told theWashington Post that military officials were aware of the event that aims to uncover the alleged conspiratorial secrets of the military installation in Nevada.
McAndrews didn't specify to the newspaper any security plans at the base, but did issue a warning.
"[Area 51] is an open training range for the U.S. Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces," she said. "The U.S. Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets."
