Copycat Ice Cream Licker Arrested In Louisiana

A Louisiana man was arrested after he was seen in a video licking a container of Blue Bell ice cream and then returning it to the freezer. 36-year-old Lenise Lloyd Martin III shared the video on Facebook, prompting concerned residents to call the police.

Authorities went to Martin's home to arrest him, but he was not there. When they went to Big B's supermarket, they found Martin speaking with the manager.

Martin admitted to making the video but told the police he bought the container after he returned it to the freezer. He showed them a receipt and the contaminated tub of ice cream.

Officers searched the freezer to confirm the item he purchased was not on the shelf.

"We do know that he paid for a container that was identical to the one that he did lick and we could not find it on the shelf," said Commander Lonny Cavalier of the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office.

Even though Martin did not leave the contaminated ice cream in the store, he was still arrested on charges of unlawful posting of criminal activity for notoriety and publicity, and criminal mischief for tampering with property.

"We discourage anyone from copying this atrocious act," Cavalier said. "It is illegal. It's a health risk to others. We will pursue anyone we see do this. You will be charged."
